The first time I hosted a party in Paris so I inflated balloons. My Maltese being obsessed with balls immediately wanted to play with the inflated balloons. So I ended up agreeing to give it to her and there, surprise! Impossible for her to catch it in her mouth, so she just throws it back in the air.
